Squatch Hold Off Express 5–4 Despite Late Push at Spooner Civic CenterSPOONER, Wis. — November 15, 2025
The Northwest Express mounted a fierce third-period comeback, but the Minnesota Squatch escaped with a 5–4 victory in a high-tempo matchup Saturday night at the Spooner Civic Center. The back-and-forth contest featured ten different point-getters for the Express and a standout effort from goaltender #30 Filip Kaczmarczyk, who made 37 saves to keep the game within reach.

First Period:
Squatch Jump Ahead 3–2

Minnesota controlled much of the opening frame, striking first at 14:20 when #22 Danylo Tsybulskyi scored off a setup from #12 Grant O’Connor.
The Squatch extended the lead at 7:07, this time with #15 Braeden Kerr finishing a play assisted by O’Connor and #55 Jeb Gould. Kerr added a power-play goal at 4:05, assisted by #17 Jackson Heusinkveld, putting Minnesota ahead 3–0 early .
The Express responded with resilience.
At 16:06, #12 Preston Lundbohm buried a power-play goal from #8 Bryce Millington. Then at 8:21, #18 Zachary Halling narrowed the gap further, converting off a clean feed from #61 Alexander Musyakevych.
The Express cut the deficit to 3–2 heading into the first intermission.

Second Period:
Squatch Add One, Express Answer

Minnesota added to their lead late in the second when #27 Bennet Prokop scored with 29.6 seconds left, assisted by #77 Cole Perkins and #90 Dallen Robinson, making it 4–3 Squatch .
Northwest answered earlier in the period at 11:05, when #15 Caeleb Burch struck on the power play, assisted by Halling and #5 Brandon Behnke. That pulled the Express within one at 4–3 entering the third.

Third Period:
Express Tie It, Squatch Win It in Overtime

The Express hold the Squatch scoreless in the third period.
At 1:34 of the 3rd, #28 Jacob Alexander blasted home the Express’s fourth goal, assisted by #21 Brett Tumbrink and #6 Dalton Slama, making it a 4–4 contest with only 1:34 left in the third.

Overtime:
At the 1:00 mark of the overtime, Minnesota’s Kerr completed his hat trick—with #77 Cole Perkins picking up the assist. The Squatch win 5-4 in the overtime battle.

Goaltending:
Northwest Express – #30 Filip Kaczmarczyk
• 37 saves on 42 shots — a strong performance keeping the Express within striking distance.

Minnesota Squatch – #31 Parker Ambury
• 33 saves on 37 shots — turned aside a heavy second-period surge from Northwest.

A Hard-Fought BattleThe Express showcased depth, special-teams efficiency, and determination—receiving goals from Lundbohm, Halling, Burch, and Alexander; plus multi-assist contributions from Halling, Musyakevych, and Slama.
