Final Score: Northwest Express 5, Dells Ducks 0
Date: Friday, January 10, 2025

The Northwest Express delivered a commanding 5-0 shutout victory over the Dells Ducks, backed by a stellar performance from goaltender Freshwater and a potent offense that erupted in the second and third periods.

First Period
The game opened with a tightly contested and scoreless first period. The Ducks' goaltender Lorenzo Medeiros held off an aggressive 19-shot onslaught by the Express, while Freshwater stood tall for the home team, denying all 8 shots faced. A minor delay-of-game penalty on Dells’ Jaxon Wesley at 14:13 marked the only incident of the period.

Second Period
The Express broke the deadlock early in the second period on a power play. At 4:35, Harrison Browning capitalized on a man-advantage, converting a crisp feed from Preston Lundbohm and Connor Corcoran to make it 1-0. Penalty trouble continued to plague the Ducks, with infractions for unsportsmanlike conduct and delay of game disrupting their rhythm. Despite these opportunities, the Express could not extend their lead, leaving it a one-goal game heading into the final frame.

Third Period
The Express dominated the third period, scoring four unanswered goals to seal the win:
  • 4:36: Nicholas Skiadas found the back of the net off a setup from Jan Schiffer, doubling the lead to 2-0.
  • 5:58: Connor Corcoran added a shorthanded goal, assisted by Browning and Lundbohm, showcasing the Express’ versatility.
  • 10:04: Dylan Wolf netted a beautiful goal, assisted by Preston Winkler and Jacob Alexander, extending the lead to 4-0.
  • 12:58: Preston Lundbohm scored his second point of the night with a power-play goal, assisted by Dylan Wolf and Max Johnson, capping off the scoring at 5-0.
The Ducks' frustrations boiled over, leading to several penalties, including a major spearing call and disqualification for Medeiros late in the game. The Ducks ended the game with 26 shots on goal but were unable to solve Freshwater, who recorded a perfect 26-save shutout.
